Established in the year 1917, Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the national body of Architects in India. As their continued efforts in promoting the profession of Architecture in India, they organize the yearly National Awards to recognize and acknowledge excellence and creativity in the field of Architecture and Design in India. Incepted in the year 1989, the IIA National Award is considered to be the most prestigious award in the fraternity of professional Architects in India.

However, unfortunately, in due course period of time, the platform lost its visibility and failed to attract the target audience in today’s fast-changing and complex world. With its steep downfall in attracting the minimum required entries to conduct the process of the National Awards for the year 2015, we were consulted with the underlying problem statement and to intervene at all suitable areas required to increase the required number of participants with the platform.

Brand Strategy and Positioning


With our meticulous understanding of the underlying problem area and to aid the award platform with a long term solution, we worked in close collaboration with the involved stakeholders to transform, define, design and build a digital brand interaction product from an orthodox pen and paper model.

The involved design strategy enabled the brand to position itself on a contemporary platform which can further establish better opportunities in providing exemplary user experience factors in near future time to the new age audiences.

Digital Product Design


Banking on the conceived brand strategy and interaction design, a responsive web product was designed with meticulous attention to the hierarchy of information required to effectively communicate and interact with the award ceremony process.

The design intervention further enabled the organizers to streamline all their resources required to effectively carry on the process with provisions such a dynamic interaction windows that collected, organized and reflected information accordingly as they proceed further with the ceremony. Also, the product user experience factors enabled the target audience to seamlessly connect with the platform and seek relevant information and updates throughout their entire participation journey with the award platform.

Communication Design


With a strong digital product set in place, it was necessary for the award platform to communicate the radical change it has gone through to a large audience across India.

We intervened to further strategize and design a series of brand communication verticals that was triggered on all identified mediums of penetration.

Industrial Design


In order to facilitate a brand recall experience, and to allow the recipients of the National Award to proudly showcase their plaque and certificates, we further intervened to design and craft the National Awards itself, that embraced values one could closely relate with the prestigious forum.

The design further enabled the plaque to be either table or wall mounted, in any which case, making it visually complimenting the interior ambiance of any given space, where it can be displayed.

Impact


The underlying problem statement was to increase the number of entries to the award platform. By working in close collaboration with the clients, and managing multiple stakeholders involved in setting up an event of this scale, our integrated design solutions fetched 5X instant results than the anticipated requirements.

Further, with our holistic design intervention and delivering reimagined experiences for the award platform, the organizers continued to re-apply the same model with zero cost to re-design, build and marketing, in the near future editions of the ceremony, to successfully connect with their audience and increase the number of entries reaching the platform.
